However, says family travel expert and columnist Eileen Ogintz, "For families, the benefits of staying in a vacation rental instead of a hotel go beyond deep savings. From the added space to let kids be kids to the separate rooms for parents to rest, relax and enjoy some romantic time alone, the entire experience in a vacation home creates lasting memories." The key to a successful vacation rental experience is to research the property thoroughly and, just as with airline tickets specials, work with a company that offers payment protection to ensure peace of mind.
